Destroyer Threads was made out of a love for creating, the love for reminiscing, and the love for destroying anything that is put in front of you. No one else can do what we do.
We believe that the stories behind our favorite items can help bring us closer to the people we love. We’re here to help you explore meaningful stories about your own wardrobe. And those of others. We turn old clothes into new ones, so you can bring your past along for the ride. We don’t just make things pretty, we make them meaningful too.
Where Our Name Came From
Our company name has history and meaning behind it too! Shocker, right? The name Destroyer Threads originated from something my dad and I used to do when I was a kid. I was a kid who didn’t have much confidence and got nervous with all things. Whether it was a cheer competition or talking to that cute boy at school, I tended to psych myself out. My dad came up with this slogan he made me yell out before I started these tasks. He would make me say “I am ___ DESTROYER GIRL” and yell it out until I felt confident. He would make me say "I am test destroyer girl" or "I am surgery destroyer girl" depending on what event was coming up, you fill in the blank. Surprisingly, it worked!
When I first started sewing, it was all new to me, and I didn't know what I was doing. But I loved creating things and wanted to make clothes. This was my passion, so I knew I wanted to create a business out of it. At times I felt discouraged, but my dad's advice helped. He told me to say, “I am sewing destroyer girl” whenever I felt discouraged. (Which of course I said out loud alone in my house like a crazy person.) So the brand's name “Destroyer Threads” became the perfect fit. When people wear Destroyer Threads, I want them to feel confident and highlight their history just like it does for me. Destroyer Threads should make the wearer feel like they can accomplish anything because guess what... YOU CAN!
